New gourmet business opens doors with wine tasting event ...

The focus of the new business is gourmet food, fresh deli meats, cheeses and groceries with a strong German influence.

Cape Coral Gourmet Food and Wine has opened the doors and welcomed their public.

Owners, Hans and Dolores Zumkeller came from Trinidad after running a successful business in the construction industry. Hans was drawn to Cape Coral because of its large German population. He was longing for smoked German style meats and other specialties from his homeland and hoped that he would find those in Cape Coral. While he noticed there were no specialty shops, he still loved the area. When he and Dolores returned home they started discussing their move, looking at businesses and planning their future in Cape Coral.

After returning to the area and settling on a building, the transformation began. Located at 4643 Coronado Parkway, the building used to be home The Candy Station. If you have been missing those exquisite chocolates and fudge, the good news is Cape Coral Gourmet Food and Wine is stocking their cases with it.

As Dolores tells me the details behind Cape Coral Gourmet Food and Wine she is also custom designing gift baskets specially requested by a customer. She and her son, Kevin explain that the customer gave them a price range, they walked him through the store and helped pick out items and now they are putting on the finishing touches. Dolores and her family are creating an experience for everyone that walks through the door. Dolores also pours us a glass of Beaujolais Nouveau, a seasonal wine offered only after the first week of November.

Dolores, Hans and Kevin have also been busy planning a welcome wine and cheese tasting. The response was a positive sign of things to come. She booked up so fast she had to start turning people away, something she was not particularly happy about doing. Because of the popularity, they hope to make this a reoccurring event.

The focus for Hans and Dolores is to offer gourmet food, fresh deli meats, cheeses and groceries with a strong German influence.

Some items available is venison, goose, Cornish hens, spreads, Hors d'oeuvre, specialty condiments and much, much more. Their large selection of wines begins at just nine dollars a bottle.

If they do not carry an item they encourage their customers to ask for it. They have already tracked down some very hard to find items and welcome the challenge.

Stop in at 4643 Coronado Parkway to see how fabulous Cape Coral Gourmet Food and Wine truly is.
